830-hp 2024 Shelby Super Snake Keeps Mustang Celebration Going

As you know, the Ford Mustang turned 60 this week. The automaker found many ways to celebrate the occasion, but it’s not alone. Shelby American is introducing its new 2024 Super Snake, the company’s first work on the seventh-generation Mustang.

By fitting a 3.0-litre Whipple supercharger to the pony car’s 5.0-litre V8 and upgrading the cooling system with a larger radiator and heat exchanger, Shelby American managed to increase output to more than 830 horsepower. The old Super Snake, incidentally, came with over 850 horsepower.

All units feature performance half shafts, while those equipped with a manual transmission get a one-piece drive shaft and a short-throw shifter. Completing the powertrain transformation is a Shelby by Borla exhaust system that gives the Super Snake a much throatier sound.

Take a look and listen:

The aluminum hood with pin locks and carbon fibre vents is obviously unique to the new Super Snake, just like the wide-body front fascia and front fenders. A ducktail spoiler, carbon fibre Super Snake wing (coupe only) and carbon fibre lower diffuser highlight the rear end.

We quite like the new 20-inch forged magnesium wheels in a bronze finish. They not only look fantastic, but they also save more than 35 lbs. What’s more, the wheels are wrapped in Shelby performance tires, slowed down by Shelby brake rotors and anchored to a revised suspension.

Naturally, Shelby American didn’t overlook the interior, adding a bunch of unique touches including new sport seats and a serialized plaque. Production will be limited to 250 units for the U.S. and even fewer units for other markets, so good luck getting one.

Speaking of luck, you’ll also need some to buy a copy of the insane 2025 Ford Mustang GTD. The automaker this week opened applications for the track-focused yet street-legal monster developed in a partnership with Multimatic in Markham, Ontario. This one cranks out over 800 horsepower, too. Interested?
