Issue: On certain vehicles, there may be a problem with the rollover sensor in the airbag control unit. This can cause the airbag system not to detect a vehicle rollover. As a result, the curtain airbags may not deploy and other safety systems may not activate in a rollover. Note: When you start the vehicle, if there is a problem with the rollover sensor, the airbag warning light in the instrument panel will stay on. Safety Risk: Curtain airbags that do not deploy and safety systems that do not work properly could increase the risk of injury in a rollover crash. Corrective Actions: To reduce the safety risk, BMW recommends that you should not carry any passengers in your vehicle until the recall repairs are completed. BMW will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to replace the airbag control unit. Additional information may be available on Transport Canada's website |
