Issue: On certain vehicles, the rear crossmember may not have been properly welded. As a result, when the rear towing eye is used, the welds could break and the rear crossmember could detach from the vehicle. Safety Risk: A rear crossmember that detaches from the vehicle could create a hazard for other drivers and nearby people. It could also increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Mercedes-Benz will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to replace the rear crossmember. Mercedes-Benz advises owners not to use the rear towing eye until the recall repairs are completed. Additional information may be available on Transport Canada's website |
