Issue: On certain 4x4 trucks, the rear driveshaft may not have been properly welded. As a result a weld could break and cause the driveshaft to detach from the truck. If the vehicle was in rear wheel drive mode, this would cause a loss of propulsion. Safety Risk: A driveshaft that detaches could result in a loss of propulsion, increasing the risk of a crash. Additionally, a driveshaft that separates from the truck could create a hazard for other drivers and nearby people. Corrective Actions: The company will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your truck to a dealer to replace the rear driveshaft with one that is properly welded.
