On certain vehicles equipped with a 10-speed automatic transmission, the roll pin attaching the transmission shift linkage to the transmission may come out. If this were to occur, movement of the shift lever by the driver will not change the transmission gear state. The transmission will remain in the gear it was in when the pin came out regardless of the position of the shift lever, and as a result, the shifter indicator could display inaccurate information. This could allow for the ignition key to be removed when the vehicle’s transmission is in a position other than park, and if the driver exits the vehicle without applying the parking brake, could result in unintended vehicle movement, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will remove and replace the roll pin with an updated part. Additional information may be available on Transport Canada's website |
