On certain vehicles, the four bolts securing the secondary hood latch striker plate may have been insufficiently tightened and could loosen. If two or more bolts were to loosen, the secondary latch could become ineffective. If the engine hood was not closed properly, both primary hood locks were not latched and the driver were to ignore the hood open warning message in the instrument cluster, the ineffective secondary latch could allow the hood to open while driving, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or property damage. Correction: dealers will inspect and retighten bolts if necessary. Additional information may be available on Transport Canada's website |
