On certain vehicles, the transmission shift cable may have been improperly installed during vehicle assembly. If the cable separates from the transmission, the driver would be unable to shift in or out of gear. As such, the shift lever could be moved into the PARK position while the transmission is still in the last used gear before detachment. If the driver leaves the vehicle without engaging the parking brake, the vehicle could roll away. A rollaway vehicle could strike another vehicle, stationary object, or a bystander, causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, correct the transmission shift cable installation. Additional information may be available on Transport Canada's website |
