ON STATION WAGONS, THE METALLIC CONDUCTOR STRIPS WHICH PROVIDE ELECTRICAL CURRENT TO THE REAR WINDOW WIPER MOTOR MAY ERODE DUE TO ELECTROLYTIC ACTION UNDER CERTAIN CONDITIONS OF HIGH ROAD SALT USE. THIS COULD REDUCE THE CROSS SECTION OF THE STRIPS, CAUSING A POINT OF HIGH RESISTANCE AND CONSEQUENT LOCALIZED THERMAL STRESS WITHIN THE GLASS. THIS CONDITION COULD CAUSE THE GLASS TO FRACTURE WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING CREATING THE RISK OF INJURY TO OCCUPANTS OF THE REAR FACING THIRD ROW SEAT OR A SUDDEN DISTRACTION TO THE DRIVER. CORRECTION: SEALANT ON STRIPS AND PROTECTIVE TAPE ON LOWER BACKLIGHTS. Additional information may be available on Transport Canada's website |
