Subaru Ascent
As a three-row midsize SUV, the spacious and comfortable Ascent can accommodate up to eight people and a decent amount of cargo. This makes for pleasant family trips. Under the hood, the turbocharged flat-four engine generates 260 hp, which is ample enough for everyday use. However, it would greatly benefit from an extra dose of operational refinement and improved real-world fuel efficiency. Maximum towing capacity is rated at 5,000 lbs on all models, including the base Ascent this year.
