Introduced in 2006 to fill a void in the Pontiac division, the Torrent is the Chevrolet Equinox's twin. Like the latter, it comes with either two or four-wheel drives, and a choice of two V6 engines. As this is its last year in its present form, the Torrent gets only superficial changes for 2009: availability of Bluetooth connectivity, and three new body colours. According to GM, these are the Pontiac Torrent's main rivals: Ford Escape, Jeep Liberty, Honda CR-V, Hyundai Santa Fe, Mazda CX-7, Kia Sorento et Toyota RAV4.
