Chevrolet Sonic
The Aveo replacement’s base engine, a 1.8L four-cylinder developing 138 horsepower and 125 lbs.-ft. of torque, is not the most exhilarating. It is the 1.4L turbocharged engine that garners all the attention. Producing 138 horsepower, its higher torque (148 lbs.-ft.) and added spunkiness transform the six-speed manual-equipped Sonic into a vehicle that’s fun to drive. Both engines offer six-speed automatic transmissions while the manual gearbox-equipped 1.8L makes do with only five gears.
