Aston Martin Vanquish Goes Topless With New Volante Model
A few weeks after the Vantage, it’s now the all-new Aston Martin Vanquish’s turn to get the convertible treatment.
Hailed as the world’s fastest and most powerful front-engined cabriolet, the Vanquish Volante uses the same twin-turbocharged 5.2-litre V12 as the coupe, producing 824 hp and 738 lb-ft of torque. Acceleration from 0-100 km/h is achieved in 3.4 seconds, while top speed is 344 km/h.

Power is sent to the rear wheels exclusively through an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission and electronic rear differential. Two exhaust systems are available: the stainless steel one delivers a lower frequency and the titanium one produces a higher-pitched sound.

When it comes to the chassis, Bilstein DTX dampers (shared with the coupe and DB12) are a key component of the suspension, while the 21-inch wheels are wrapped in Pirelli P Zero tires that were specifically developed for the Vanquish models. Electronic stability control has been retuned, traction control offers eight levels of intervention (but can also be turned off) and carbon-ceramic brakes are included as standard.
It's also important to point out that the Vanquish Volante is 95 kg (209 lb) heavier, but Aston Martin's engineers have worked to keep unsprung weight to a minimum and maintain excellent handling.

Meanwhile, the design team has made sure the retractable soft top wouldn’t compromise the alluring profile of the car when closed. The top opens in 14 seconds and closes in 16 seconds while driving at speeds up to 50 km/h. The same operations with the new Vantage Roadster only take 6.8 seconds, by the way. The company says the level of thermal insulation is directly comparable to that of the coupe.
The two-seat cabin is virtually identical, too. Critically, Aston Martin has retained physical switches and buttons for the key mechanical operations of gear selection, drive selection, heating and ventilation. The low-mounted centre touchscreen and instrument display are both 10.25 inches in size, with the former showcasing Aston Martin’s next-generation infotainment system.

The new 2026 Vanquish Volante is priced at $561,600 in Canada (the coupe starts at $514,800) and available to order now with the first deliveries commencing late this summer. Total Vanquish production will be limited to no more than 1,000 units annually.
