Cadillac CT4 and CT5 Reportedly Not Getting Gas-Powered Successors
More popular in the United States than in Canada, Cadillac’s two sedans are likely to see their careers come to an end after just one generation.
According to a new report from GM Authority, the same publication that recently claimed the Cadillac XT5 and XT6 won’t return after 2025 (along with the Chevrolet Blazer), the CT4 and CT5 will be back for the 2026 model year but no gas-powered successors are planned.

Instead, these models would be replaced by new electric cars currently under development at Cadillac, one comparable in size to the CT5 and the other slightly larger. Their design would be different from that of a conventional sedan, possibly with a fastback-style profile.
Also according to GM Authority, the duo will be based on a forthcoming new electric vehicle platform, dubbed “BEV Prime,” which represents a more premium evolution of the one General Motors used to call Ultium (shared by the Cadillac Lyriq, Optiq and Vistiq).
Cadillac's future electric cars would rival the likes of the BMW i4/i5, Audi A6 e-tron and upcoming Mercedes-Benz CLA and E-Class EVs. However, we have serious doubts about their chances of success. You see, the CT4 and CT5 are by far the brand's worst sellers at the moment, and demand for electric vehicles in general is not growing nearly as fast as anticipated.

In fact, while CEO John Roth told us last year that Cadillac still aims to launch EVs covering most market segments, the transition to an all-electric lineup likely won’t come by 2030 as initially planned. Instead of forcing EVs down the throat of consumers, the company will let demand “be our guide,” Roth said.
We’ll keep you posted as soon as Cadillac makes any new official announcement.
