Polestar 7 Compact SUV to Expand Model Lineup, More Retail Spaces Coming

Polestar on Tuesday presented an updated business plan that targets a compound annual retail sales volume growth of 30-35% for 2025 to 2027. Both in terms of volumes and financials, the young Swedish EV company expects 2025 to be the strongest year in its history, driven by the new Polestar 3 and Polestar 4.

“We are building on the strong Polestar brand with design and performance at its core, but significant changes are needed to make this well-respected progressive brand a successful and viable business,” CEO Michael Lohscheller said. “We are speeding up our retail expansion and commercial transformation, whilst adjusting our future model lineup and significantly reducing our cost base.”

Speaking of future models, following the Polestar 5 performance four-door GT (second half of 2025) and the Polestar 6 roadster (2026) that were previously announced, a new compact SUV called Polestar 7 will be added to the mix, as confirmed today. Timing has yet to be specified, however.

This model will significantly undercut the Polestar 3 (pictured below) in terms of pricing as it targets a much larger number of customers. It will be manufactured in Europe instead of Polestar’s existing plants in the U.S., South Korea or China.

No preview or specs were shared, unfortunately. What we can tell you is that the Polestar 7 will feature distinctive styling and, from that point on, the company will gradually move from a multi-platform approach to one single architecture in an effort to reduce complexity, costs and investments.

In related news, Polestar said it plans to expand from 36 to 57 retail spaces in North America by 2027. The established direct-to-consumer online sales channel will remain, giving customers a choice in how they want to buy their Polestar.
