Zombie Alert: These 4 Dead Models Were Sold as New in 2024
It happens every year: discontinued models find a way to reappear on new vehicle sales charts thanks to one or more unsold units that were rotting on dealer lots and somehow found a taker at last.
Well, 2024 was no exception. Want some examples? We’ve found four in Canada:

Acura NSX
The second-generation NSX bowed out after the 2022 model year. Acura’s hybrid supercar had a final production run of 350 units—all of them Type S models with 600 horsepower. In Canada, they were priced at over $220,000. One still-new NSX was sold somewhere in the country in 2024, and it’s safe to assume it came with a huge discount.
Honda Insight
Equipped with a hybrid system producing 151 horsepower, the Insight compact sedan was discontinued after the 2021 model year, just before the launch of the latest Civic. Shockingly, one unsold unit ended up finding a home in 2024. The all-new 2025 Civic Hybrid outperforms it in every way but also costs a lot more.
Chevrolet Spark
General Motors stopped building the tiny Spark in August 2022. We thought it was gone for good after a single sale was recorded in Canada during the fourth quarter of 2023 and none during the first quarter of 2024. Well, we were wrong. As we wrote last summer, seven Sparks were still sold as new across the country from April through June 2024. The Spark used to carry a base MSRP of $10,398 with the five-speed manual gearbox and $14,698 with the optional CVT, making it Canada’s cheapest new vehicle at the time. Clearly, some drivers still don’t mind having less than 100 hp under the hood.
Ram ProMaster City
Ram retired the ProMaster City van at the end of the 2022 model year. The company managed to sell 302 remaining units in Canada in the first months of 2023 and called it a wrap. But lo and behold, one more unit was sold as new in 2024. With the subsequent elimination of the Ford Transit Connect and Mercedes-Benz Metris, there aren’t any small cargo vans left in Canada.
Incidentally, if you’re wondering about vehicles that are not returning for 2025, we’ve recently compiled and posted a list. Click on the link and pour one out for all these ill-fated models.
