Prototype Shots Reveal 2026 Honda Prelude’s Interior

News of the Honda Prelude returning to Canada in late 2025 is just a couple of days old, but as we quickly found out, many of our readers are quite interested in this upcoming Japanese coupe. Unlike the previous five generations, the sixth-gen Prelude will be sold exclusively as a hybrid when it arrives as a 2026 model.

The automaker didn’t share a lot of details in Tuesday’s announcement, leaving us to speculate about a number of things. However, select members of the Japanese media have since been given access to a Prelude prototype at Honda’s test centre, so we can see more of what’s to come including the previously hidden interior.

The following video comes from the YouTube channel Lovecars!TV!:

Obviously, the cabin is not yet close to production. Some elements are still concealed, while trim pieces are missing. One thing’s for sure: the Prelude looks like a carbon copy of the Honda Civic on the inside, which should be a surprise to no one but a disappointment for some.

Just look at the digital instrument cluster, the centre touchscreen, the mesh grille covering the air vents or the steering wheel. The paddle shifters on the latter appear to be larger and similar to those found on the Acura Integra. More shots were posted on the Instagram account of HondaProJason:

Meanwhile, the front seats have taller seatbacks and slightly more prominent side bolsters for improved support. That being said, the biggest difference is the redesigned centre console, which features repositioned cup holders, a new armrest shape and more importantly a series of push-buttons replacing the shifter, just like in the Honda Pilot.

On the right of said buttons is a drive mode switch as well as the new S+ Shift control, which is said to “further advance Linear Shift Control to deliver maximum levels of driver engagement.” Look for improved simulated gear shifts along with active sound control (meaning amped-up engine sound in the cabin).

To be clear, Honda has no intention of offering a proper manual transmission with the Prelude. We’ll get more information early in 2025, so keep following The Car Guide to stay in the loop.
