Report: Gas-Powered Dodge Charger SIXPACK to Launch Earlier, Guess Why
Initially announced as a 2024 model, the Dodge Charger Daytona electric muscle car likely won’t hit the road until early 2025. And now we hear that the future gas-powered variant could launch sooner than planned.
According to a report by Mopar Insiders, citing unnamed sources, Dodge has pushed up the release date by about five months to early summer. This includes both the four-door SIXPACK S.O. (420 hp) and the two-door SIXPACK H.O. (550 hp) featuring the twin-turbocharged straight-six engine a.k.a. Hurricane.

Why? There are at least two possible explanations. For one, demand for the new, fuel-sipping Charger is apparently stronger, which shouldn’t come as a surprise at all given Dodge’s traditional clientele and the current state of the EV market.
What’s more, the future Trump-led U.S. government is likely to favour ICE-powered vehicles by significantly cutting tax credits for EVs, forcing many automakers to adjust their strategies in the process.
Ironically, Dodge dealers in Uncle Donald’s land still have more than 5,000 unsold 2023 Chargers and Challengers sitting on their lots, according to another report posted this week, despite these cars being heavily discounted right now.
Dodge has yet to make an official statement. On its Canadian website, it still says that the new Charger SIXPACK models will be available in late 2025. However, its U.S. website lists a mid-2025 release date. Stay tuned.
