“Invadr” Buick Grand National by Ringbrothers Packs 1,246 Horsepower

It’s not the first time we write about Ringbrothers, the Wisconsin-based tuner that’s famous for mega-powerful restomods, and it definitely won’t be the last. The SEMA Show in Las Vegas often provides an opportunity to see what the company is up to, and the 2024 edition is no exception.

For its latest build, which took around 4,900 hours to complete and goes by the name “Invadr,” Ringbrothers transformed a 1987 Buick Regal Grand National into a 1,246-horsepower rocket. Yes, that is correct—1,001 horsepower more than the original.

Under the hood sits a twin-turbocharged 3.8-litre V6 from Duttweiler Performance, a California shop that specializes in ultra-high-horsepower engines. As Ringbrothers explains, the turbos are running 32 psi of boost, but it would be possible to turn them up to 50 psi and reach 2,000 horsepower. How insane would that be? Peak torque, meanwhile, is 1,000 lb-ft.

Harnessing all that power is a six-speed Tremec T56 manual transmission paired with a modified Ford 9-inch rear end.

As you can see on the pictures, this Grand National by Ringbrothers has received many additional upgrades and changes, starting with a custom chassis from Roadster Shop and three-way adjustable Penske shocks. The custom HRE wheels are wrapped in beefy Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires and slowed down by carbon-ceramic brakes from a C6 Corvette ZR1.

The body, which is painted in a colour called Dark Vader Gray, sports new stainless steel bumpers along with tweaked fenders and side skirts. The custom hood and rear spoiler are just two of the various carbon-fibre components used throughout.

Inside, a roll cage and more carbon fibre can be found. Apparently, there’s even a button to deploy a parachute during drag races. No acceleration or quarter-mile times were announced, by the way.

One thing’s for sure, if Darth Vader was for real and looking for a ride, he’d definitely be tempted by a car like Invadr. What do you think?
