Rivian Has More Cool Tricks for Halloween This Year
Halloween is fast approaching and kids won’t be the only ones getting treats this year. EV maker Rivian is joining the party with some really fun tricks.
Owners of an R1S SUV or R1T pickup can download a software update that will prove to be a hit among fans of the old Knight Rider TV show and iconic Back to the Future movies.

First, the EVs can display K.I.T.T.’s diagnostics and instruments on the interior screens and play the original show intro music (which, in an amusing coincidence, happens to be current ringtone on this writer’s phone).
What’s more, the Gear Guard yeti embodying the vehicle’s security system gets a Michael Knight makeover. For the cherry on top of the cake, the front light bar on the new 2025 models will flash a red beam and play K.I.T.T.’s iconic scanner sound. Pretty cool, right?
Now, if you’ve always been jealous of Marty McFly, the software update can make you feel like you’re driving the DeLorean time machine with a bang-on transformation of the displays. The Gear Guard in this case gets dressed as Doc Brown.
But wait, there’s more. The speakers will also pump out music and the acceleration sound from the movies. Again, those who own a 2025 model will receive a little extra, namely a “88mph” button on the screen. Oh, and the truck’s headlights and taillights will put on a show inspired by the movies while more sound effects can be heard.
Similar to last year’s Halloween update, this one will show pedestrians as zombies and cyclists and motorcyclists as headless horsemen on the driver display—seriously. More reasons to be extra careful while driving around on trick-or-treat night.
By the way, if you think the six-figure R1S and R1T are too expensive, just be a little more patient: the smaller and cheaper R2 and R3/R3X SUVs will launch in the next couple of years.
