Updated 2025 Volkswagen Taos to Start Just Under $30,000 in Canada

Volkswagen today announced Canadian pricing details for the refreshed and more powerful 2025 Taos, which will arrive at dealers nationwide later this year. As we suspected, it’s more expensive than the 2024 iteration including a fairly steep hike in base trim.

Before we go any further, you should know that designers have given the little crossover a more aggressive front fascia complete with an available light bar within the new grille. Redesigned wheels and expanded body colour selection are also part of the update, not to mention connected taillights with an illuminated “VW” logo in the rear.

Inside, the revised dashboard incorporates an eight-inch floating touchscreen. However, arguably the biggest change for 2025 can be found under the hood: the turbocharged 1.5-litre engine gets a boost from 158 to 174 horsepower, while the 4MOTION all-wheel-drive system now comes with an eight-speed automatic transmission in place of the previous DSG dual-clutch transmission.

Up to $2,400 More Expensive

The 2025 Volkswagen Taos starts at an MSRP of $29,795 for the Trendline front-wheel drive model and $31,795 for the Trendline 4MOTION all-wheel-drive model. That’s an increase of $2,400 and $1,800, respectively, from 2024. Don’t forget to include $2,100 freight and PDI, plus other applicable fees.

Standard content includes 17-inch “Manali” alloy wheels (FWD) or 18-inch “Kentucky” alloy wheels (AWD), heated front seats with cloth upholstery and manual adjustments, a heated leatherette steering wheel, heated washer nozzles, myVW mobile app with Volkswagen Car-Net connected vehicle service, as well as numerous advanced driver assistance features including Travel Assist (semi-automated driving assistance).

Next up is the Comfortline model, which you can no longer have with front-wheel drive. Pricing for 2025 starts at $35,295, a hike of $1,300 from the outgoing Taos Comfortline 4MOTION.

Look for 18-inch “Fiji” alloy wheels, silver roof rails replacing the standard black ones, privacy glass, remote start, leatherette seating surfaces (two colour choices), a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and an 8-way power driver’s seat with lumbar support. Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are also included. The interior can be further enhanced by a panoramic glass roof for an additional $1,200.

The Taos Comfortline can alternatively be ordered in a Black Edition ($36,995) featuring unique 19-inch “Portland Black” wheels and several black accents throughout. The panoramic sunroof is standard, here.

Finally, the top-line Highline 4MOTION model is up $1,000 and starts at $38,995 for 2025. It’s available in all eight colours and two shades of leather interior seating surfaces. The 19-inch “Portland” machined wheels and illuminated light line further set the exterior apart, while ventilated front seats and ambient lighting (customizable in up to 10 colours) add to the interior experience.

Before you rush to buy a new Taos, remember that Volkswagen will unveil the Tiguan’s successor in late November. Of course, the latter will inevitably be hit by inflation, too. Keep following The Car Guide for more details.
