Jeep Teases Aggressive-Looking New Compass Arriving in 2026

The Jeep Compass is one of the lowest-rated vehicles in the entire auto industry according to our team at The Car Guide, and the company recently decided to slash the base price by more than $6,000 to hopefully attract more customers in the highly competitive compact-SUV segment. We’ll see how the move works out.

Beyond that, a new generation is on the way. Jeep today gave a preview with the dark teaser above. While it looks more like a concept than a production model at this point, we’re led to believe that the vehicle will feature a longer body and much more aggressive design.

The press release states that the future Compass will ride on Stellantis’ STLA Medium platform and offer “various multi-energy propulsion systems,” meaning there will be a gas-powered variant and at least one electrified option that has yet to be specified.

The redesigned Opel Grandland, which is also part of the large Stellantis family and built on the aforementioned STLA Medium chassis, is available in gas, plug-in hybrid and fully electric configurations.

Production in Italy will begin next year for the European market (the Melfi plant already builds the Compass). North America and other markets will follow in 2026, possibly for the 2026 model year.

As announced in November 2023 after Stellantis and Unifor reached a new three-year collective agreement, the next-generation Compass will also be manufactured in Brampton, Ontario. The factory is currently being retooled through a $1.32 billion investment.
