Kia Announces Pricing for 2025 K4 Sedan Replacing the Forte

Introduced this past spring at the New York Auto Show, the all-new 2025 Kia K4 can now be ordered in Canada. Deliveries to customers will start in October.

The K4 is a compact sedan that’s larger and more sophisticated than the Forte it replaces. At the same time, it will try to fill a void left by the K5 midsize sedan, which is not returning to Canada for 2025 (but continues to be sold in the U.S.).

“The K4 sets a new benchmark in the compact car segment with inspiring design, meaningful standard features, as well as plenty of technology to meet the needs of many,” said David Sherrard, Director of Strategic Planning at Kia Canada. “From advanced safety, to ample performance as well as segment-above rear seat room, the brand-new K4 is going to stand out.”

At 4,709 mm long and 1,849 mm wide, the K4 trumps every other compact sedan out there. It looks like a coupe with that fastback design and the rear door handles hidden within the window surrounds. Cargo capacity is 413 litres, but the very short trunk lid won’t help with loading and unloading items.

More Expensive Than the Forte

The 2025 Kia K4 offers two powertrain options. The standard 2.0-litre engine produces 147 horsepower and 132 lb-ft of torque through a continuously variable transmission. It achieves a combined 7 L/100 km according to Kia, which is two tenths of a litre below the combined rating of a similarly powered Forte.

The alternative once again is a turbocharged 1.6-litre engine that delivers 190 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque, except that it’s now mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission instead of a seven-speed dual-clutch unit. You can only have this one in GT-Line trim, which will arrive at a later date. Fuel consumption is not specified yet.

The base LX model carries an MSRP of $23,995 (plus $2,449 freight, PDI and dealer fees), an increase of $2,900 versus a 2024 Forte LX. Next up are the EX and EX+ models at $26,495 and $27,995, respectively. The latter is $3,500 more expensive than its 2024 equivalent.

Finally, the K4 GT-Line retails for $31,495, but if you want the Limited package it will cost you $34,495, which exceeds the priciest Forte by three grand. A multi-link rear suspension contributes to sharper handling and improved ride quality. All the safety and driver assistance features available with the K4 are also included.

By the way, no AWD option is offered, and no hybrid variant is planned, either. That’s a shame.

The Car Guide will have a review of the 2025 Kia K4 to share with you in the next few weeks, so stay tuned. As for the five-door K4, the automaker has yet to confirm this model for Canada.
