2025 Jeep Wrangler Goes Manual Only With the V6

As previously announced, Jeep is keeping the final edition of the V8-powered Wrangler 392 around for one more year, a move that will surely please big-power enthusiasts. However, it’s not the only notable change to the Wrangler lineup for 2025.

The company has decided to no longer offer the eight-speed automatic transmission with the standard 3.6-litre V6 (285 horsepower, 260 lb-ft), meaning the latter can only be paired with the six-speed manual gearbox going forward. If you ask us, that’s not going to sit well with a number of potential customers.

The eight-speed transmission will remain exclusive to the turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine (270 horsepower, 295 lb-ft), the aforementioned 6.4-litre V8 (470 horsepower, 470 lb-ft), as well as the 4xe plug-in hybrid system (375 horsepower, 470 lb-ft).

What else is new for 2025? Power locks and power windows are now standard on all Wrangler models, there’s a new ‘41 exterior paint colour inspired by Jeep’s military olive drab, and an available Active Cabin Ventilation feature makes it possible to pre-ventilate the interior via a mobile app before entering the vehicle.

That’s pretty much it, at least for now. Knowing Jeep, we wouldn’t be surprised to see more announcements being made later into the 2025 model year. We’ll keep you posted if that’s the case. Pricing has yet to be revealed, by the way.

Remember, the Wrangler received a significant mid-cycle update for 2024 and offers more selection than ever before. Among other things, the two-door Wrangler can be specified with 35-inch tires for the very first time when opting for a Willys or Rubicon model with the turbocharged mill.
