Carried-Over 2025 Hyundai IONIQ 6 Has Same Base Price, Less Range
While Hyundai’s IONIQ 5 crossover is getting a significant mid-cycle update for 2025, the IONIQ 6 sedan is essentially unchanged entering its third year and continues to start at $54,999 (MSRP). However, potential customers need to be aware of a curious revision to the car’s specs.
In Natural Resources Canada’s database, the entry-level Preferred RWD model with 18-inch wheels is no longer listed with 581 km of range like in 2023-2024 but rather 550 km, a drop of 31 km despite all the components and content being the same. A similar revision was made by the EPA south of the border (from 361 miles down to 342 miles).

This appears to be a case of using different calculation methods, but it only applies to that particular model. Incidentally, unlike what NRC suggests, the base IONIQ 6 can no longer be equipped with an Ultimate package, as confirmed by Hyundai Canada’s online configurator. The 20-inch wheels included in that package reduced the RWD variant’s range to just under 500 km.
Now, when it comes to the Preferred AWD model (starting at $58,399, an increase of $100 from 2024), the official range estimates are identical going into the new model year—509 km with the 18-inch wheels or 435 km with the Ultimate package ($6,700) including 20-inch wheels.
For what it’s worth, the Korean sedan still beats the Tesla Model 3 and Polestar 2, which deliver up to 549 km and 505 km of range, respectively. Of course, real-world range can be substantially longer or shorter depending on road and weather conditions as well as driving habits.
