158,000 Ram 1500 Pickups Recalled in Canada, ESC May Not Work

Over 158,000 Ram pickups in Canada covering the 2019-2024 model years (except 2020) are part of a recall involving a software problem that could cause the electronic stability control (ESC) system not to work. Should that occur, the risk of a crash would increase.

According to the recall notice posted by Transport Canada, the software problem would cause warning lights for the ESC, antilock braking system (ABS), adaptive cruise control (ACC) and forward collision warning (FCW) to appear on the instrument panel.
Affected owners will need to book an appointment with a Ram dealer to update the ABS control module software.
Anyone owning a 2019-2024 Ram 1500 can check if their vehicle is on the list by visiting the automaker’s recall website.
Earlier this summer, the 2022 Ram 1500 was among several Stellantis vehicles targeted by a recall affecting 126,000 units in Canada. An internal investigation found that they have radio software that in some cases can inadvertently shut down the rear-view camera, compromising visibility for drivers. The fix is a software update that can be performed over the air, with no need to visit a dealer.
