Monterey Car Week : Acura Unveils Performance EV Concept
Acura unveiled the Performance EV – a performance-oriented EV – at the Monterey Car Week. This will be the first model to be designed on a new Honda-developed platform. The vehicle is planned to enter production by the end of 2025.
"Our electrified future began with this year's launch of the 2024 Acura ZDX. This next all-electric Acura SUV continues our vision to deliver an exhilarating driving experience to Acura customers in the electrified future." said James Marchand, Assistant Vice President of Acura Canada.

The front silhouette draws inspiration from the high-tech form and function of hydrofoil superyachts. With its slender lines, the vented hood extends to the A-Pillars while the side air intakes are prominent. At the rear, three distinct elements pay homage to the second-generation NSX sport car: the upswept decklid, the full-width taillight and a large diffuser. The new ACURA logo is spread across the tailgate.
The Performance EV is characterized by its coupe-like appearance, defined by its sloping roofline. The front and rear overhangs are short, while its long wheelbase helps defining its sporty character. The teardrop cabin is finished in “Moonlit White Pearl” paint with a semi-matte finish. However, no images have been revealed yet.
"As with our previous Acura concept vehicles, the Acura Performance EV Concept introduces a number of design themes that will be seen on future Acura vehicles", said Dave Marek, Acura Design Executive.
Only a few key technical details have been shared so far. All four wheels are equipped with high-performance perforated disk brakes. The four-piston calipers are painted Moonlight White and embossed with the Acura logo in green. The huge 23-inch rims are fitted with wide performance tires. The wheel design includes machined and brushed edges. The variable spoke spacing arrangement gives the impression of movement even when stationary, according to the manufacturer.
With that said, this will be the first model produced at Honda's new electric vehicle hub in Ohio. In addition, the concept will be presented at two events: The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering and the prestigious Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, which will take place on August 16 and 18 respectively.
