Ford Mustang Mach-E Sets New Guinness Record for EV Distance

Ford Mustang Mach-E has just set a new Guinness World Record for the longest distance travelled by a series-produced electric vehicle on a single charge.

On July 27, a team in the U.K. drove the American crossover across a total of 916.74 km including a mix of road types "to emulate real-world driving conditions." The feat took just over 24 hours, but the average speed of the vehicle was not specified.

The previous record of 907.62 km belonged to Chinese automaker Zeekr.

The Mustang Mach-E that was used this time around was a single-motor Premium Extended Range model equipped with the 98.8kWh battery (91 kWh net capacity). It rode on 18-inch wheels wrapped in EV-specific Bridgestone tires.

The average energy consumption at the end of the journey was a remarkable 9.94 kWh/100 km. Just so you know, Natural Resources Canada rates this particular Mustang Mach-E at 19.8 kWh/100 km and gives it 515 km of range.

Incredibly, the final 34 km were recorded after the battery level indicator on the instrument panel had dropped to 0 percent.

Back in April 2022, Mercedes-Benz managed to complete a trip of 1,008 km across Europe on a single battery charge using its extremely aerodynamic and efficient Vision EQXX concept, which has yet to enter production.

As for the overall world record for an EV, an experimental car called “muc22” built by German students in Munich was able to drive as much as 2,573.79 km on a single charge in September 2023.
