Hyundai Might Have to Replace the Transmission on Your New Santa Fe
Hyundai has announced a pair of recalls in the past few days affecting a little over 8,000 vehicles in Canada. The problems they aim to address aren’t to be taken lightly.
First, 806 units of the all-new 2024 Santa Fe are being recalled due to a software problem that could cause the transmission to become damaged. As a result, the vehicle could move when it's parked and the parking brake isn't applied.

Since the safety of occupants and those around the vehicle would be compromised in such a scenario, Hyundai will ask owners to have their Santa Fe inspected by a dealer. If necessary, the transmission will be replaced altogether. Dealers will also update the transmission control unit software.
Earlier this year, the new 2024 Santa Fe was hit with a first recall because of another software problem that could cause the rearview camera image not to display properly.
Meanwhile, Hyundai is recalling approximately 7,500 cars across the country with a potentially defective high-pressure fuel pump. If the pump were to fail, the engine could run rough and drivers might experience a sudden loss of power. It’s also possible that the check engine light would turn on in the instrument cluster.
Affected models include the 2022-2023 Elantra N and Kona N, the 2019-2022 Veloster N, as well as the 2019-2023 Genesis G70.
The remedy is a software update to the engine control module. The high-pressure fuel pump will be replaced only if necessary.
