Rod Stewart-Owned Lamborghini Countach in Mint Condition Now for Sale

As you know, the team at The Car Guide loves to write about classic cars and unique collections especially when they used to belong to famous people.

If you like old rock and British singer Rod Stewart in particular, you might know that he’s owned a number of exotic cars over the years, one of which was a Ferrari F40 that ended up at an auction ten years ago. The F40 was the last Maranello creation approved by the great Enzo Ferrari and a direct answer to models like the Countach from archrival Lamborghini. Stewart also owned a copy of the latter, and now it’s about to change hands.

Listed on Bring a Trailer, the Countach was originally purchased by the acclaimed musician during his Australian tour in 1977 and later modified by Albert Madikian Engineering in Los Angeles. It received a widebody kit, front and rear spoilers, plus a targa-style roof panel.

The car was then relocated to the U.K. and remained in Stewart’s private collection until 2002. It was converted to left-hand drive under the stewardship of its second owner before being purchased in 2013 by an owner who commissioned a refurbishment, returning its bodywork to factory condition but retaining the left-hand-drive configuration.

The 3.9-litre V12 engine has never been touched. However, some mechanical and electrical work was done in the 2000s. As for the interior, it was refurbished in 2022 and returned to original specifications. The latest maintenance job was carried out as recently as last month and came with a bill of nearly $30,000 USD.

A look at the odometer shows the mint Countach has logged just 562 km, meaning it has spent the vast majority of its life away from the road and daylight.

Bidding ends this Thursday and so far the highest bid stands at $500,000, or approximately $680,000 CAD. Think it’ll reach one million? We’ll see. By the way, the car is currently located in California. You can browse through the photo gallery at the top of the page for a closer look.

Remember, Lamborghini introduced an all-new Countach in the summer of 2021 to mark the Italian icon’s 50th anniversary. Production is limited to 112 units, a nod to the ‘LP 112’ internal project name used during the original Countach’s development. All of them feature a hybridized V12 powertrain generating 803 horsepower.
