126,000 Stellantis Vehicles in Canada Need Software Fix to Camera Issue

Rear-view camera issues are commonplace in this day and age, with the latest example coming from Stellantis. The automaker has just announced a recall on nearly 1.2 million SUVs, vans and pickups in North America including approximately 126,000 in Canada.

Affected models include the 2022-2023 Jeep Compass, Grand Cherokee, Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer, 2021-2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee L and Dodge Durango, 2022-2023 Ram ProMaster, 2022 Ram 1500, 2500 and 3500, and 2021-2023 Chrysler Pacifica.

An internal investigation found that these vehicles have radio software that in some cases can inadvertently shut down the rear-view camera, compromising visibility for drivers and increasing the risk of a collision.

The remedy is a simple software update once again. No visit to a dealer is required as the update can be performed over the air.

Owners will receive a request to accept the update on their infotainment display. Many already have, actually. Just to be sure, Stellantis will also send recall notices by mail.

The automaker said it is unaware of any injuries or crashes directly related to this particular issue.
