2025 BMW i4 Refreshes Look, Updates Interior to Ward Off Model 3

Looking for a sporty yet relatively affordable electric car? The BMW i4 is getting a mid-cycle refresh for 2025 that the German automaker surely hopes will steal some of the updated Tesla Model 3’s thunder.

On the outside, the five-door sedan features redesigned headlights and a grille surround in matte chrome or high-gloss black depending on the model, while the taillights are available with laser-lit accents. New body colours include Cape York Green Metallic and Vegas Red Metallic. A new 19-inch Aero Wheel in Jet Black with a burnished finish can be ordered on cars specified with the optional M Sport Package.

We’d also like to highlight the M Carbon Exterior Package, which includes side air intake trim at the front end, M-specific exterior mirror caps, finishers on the sides of the rear diffuser and a subtle rear spoiler all made from carbon fibre-reinforced plastic.

The interior of the 2025 BMW i4 benefits from the latest evolution (OS 8.5) of BMW iDrive infotainment with QuickSelect, which can be specified with an Augmented View display for the navigation system. Voice control using the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant will become more interactive and intuitive, which is part of the reason why the company has decided to eliminate some physical controls in the process.

What’s more, drivers will find new adjustment controls for the air vents and a redesigned steering wheel in every model, plus new interior trim and upholstery options such as Vernasca leather in Black with Coral Red accents. Customers can now specify the gear selector, BMW iDrive controller and start/stop button in glass, adding even more luxury to the cabin.

There are no changes when it comes to the powertrain and battery, so the lineup will continue to look like this:

  • i4 eDrive35: 281 hp, 295 lb-ft. of torque, up to 428 km of range
  • i4 eDrive40: 335 hp, 317 lb-ft. of torque, up to 512 km of range
  • i4 xDrive40: 396 hp, 443 lb-ft. of torque, up to 462 km of range
  • i4 M50 xDrive: 469 hp, 538 lb-ft. of torque, up to 430 km of range

The 2025 BMW i4 will go on sale starting this July, with pricing to be announced closer to launch. Expect some increases, although maybe not for the base model—the i4 needs to stay below the limit of $55,000 set by the federal government’s iZEV program.
