Want the M5 Touring in Canada? BMW Would Like to Hear You
So, will the M5 Touring come to Canada or not?
Back in mid-February, The Car Guide was told by Domagoj Dukec, head of design at BMW, that the next-generation M5 will be sold in North America in both sedan and wagon body styles.

Perhaps realizing that he went a bit too far, Dukec later denied saying as much in stories posted by other media outlets. BMW Canada spokesman Jean-François Taylor also reached out to us and clarified that Canadian availability was still up in the air, hinting at possibly different strategies on each side of the border.
Now, we’ve found that BMW has launched an online campaign called Leave Your Mark to solicit feedback from Canadians related to their affection for the M5 Touring and encourage them to support bringing the vehicle to the Canadian market for the very first time. It’s your chance to make your voice count, people!
“We’ve received questions from our customers and seen the discussions about the M5 Touring online and wanted to create a platform to gather consumer sentiment and feedback,” said Jonathan Thomson, Director of Brand Management at BMW Group Canada. “We’re encouraging Canadians to visit the Leave Your Mark campaign page and share whether they think BMW Canada should bring the vehicle to the Canadian market.”
While the M5 Sedan has long been successful in Canada, the Touring version has never been sold here.
The new BMW M5 will be the first to feature a hybrid powertrain—a plug-in hybrid, to be exact—combining the twin-turbocharged 4.4-litre V8 engine with an electric motor just like in the BMW XM. The latter generates 644 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque, but the Label Red model gets a boost to 738 horsepower and 738 lb-ft. It also uses a 29.5kWh battery and offers an estimated range of 50 km.
An official introduction should take place later this year, but don’t expect the car to land on this side of the Atlantic before 2025. We’ll keep you posted as soon as more details become available.
