New-Look 2025 Aston Martin Vantage Gets Big Power Boost, Superb Cockpit

The Aston Martin Vantage is getting sexier and flexing more muscle for the 2025 model year as part of a major update to the generation introduced six years ago.

Just like we suspected, the exterior design borrows heavily from the new DB12, including a revised front grille that’s 38 percent larger. The lip spoiler at the bottom emphasizes the car’s 30 mm of extra body width. Same thing for the broader rear fenders.

Redesigned headlights and mirror caps, new wheels and larger quad tailpipes sitting under a wider rear bumper are more changes on the outside.

Now With 656 Ponies Under the Hood

The extra muscle Aston Martin has given to the Vantage is mostly found under the hood. Thanks to modified cam profiles, optimized compression ratios, larger turbos and increased cooling, the twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 now generates 656 horsepower (+153) and 590 lb-ft of torque (+85).

As a result, 0-60 mph (97 km/h) acceleration is achieved in 3.4 seconds, the company claims, yet it’s still not good enough to beat a Chevrolet Corvette Z06, Ferrari 296 GTB, Maserati MC20, McLaren GT or Porsche 911 Turbo. Top speed is increased from 314 km/h to 325 km/h.

The eight-speed ZF transmission benefits from a shortened final drive ratio and revised shift calibration for punchier in-gear acceleration and reduced shift times. It is paired with a new Launch Control system, and the great thing here is that the driver can dial-in the precise amount of slip they desire during the launch by making changes via the adjustable traction control system.

Another area of improvement is the chassis. The enhanced body structure boasts additional underbody stiffening components including a stiffer yet lighter front engine cross brace, as well as increased lateral stiffness between the suspension towers. New adaptive dampers are part of the mix, too, along with new Michelin Pilot Sport S 5 tires on 21-inch forged wheels, new electric power steering and steering column, plus a re-tuned brake booster. Expect sharper and more exhilarating handling on the road and on the track.

Beautifully Revamped Cockpit

The Vantage’s interior has not been overlooked, again using the DB12 as a template. In front of the driver are a redesigned steering wheel and all-new digital instrument panel, but the most notable change is arguably the revamped control interface, from the 10.25-inch touchscreen to the various buttons and switches below.

The former is powered by Aston Martin’s new infotainment system featuring wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It sits lower than the previous display, mind you, and probably means a bit more time with the eyes away from the road, which could be a problem. Your ears, meanwhile, should be delighted by the optional 15-speaker Bowers & Wilkins surround sound system.

The 2025 Aston Martin Vantage will enter production before winter is over. Canadian pricing starts at $229,200. The first units are slated to land in September.
