Custom Lamborghini Diablo VT Owned by Donald Trump Sells for $1.5 Million
Former U.S. President Donald Trump won’t solve his financial setbacks or fund his next presidential campaign by selling some of his cars, but we thought you might be interested to know that one of his past rides fetched $1.1 million USD ($1.48 million CAD) at an auction in Arizona last Saturday.
The custom Lamborghini Diablo VT Roadster you see here has become one of the most expensive of its kind on the planet. In fact, Barrett-Jackson says it’s the most money ever spent on a Diablo at any auction. Similar models without celebrity ownership typically sell for half or less.

According to the listing, Trump was allowed to custom-order this Diablo because of a special relationship with the Italian automaker, which provided him with some "loaner" Diablos for brand and model promotional purposes. The Blu Le Mans paint colour was not offered in 1997, making it the only Diablo painted in this shade back then. The car was further personalized with a "Donald Trump 1997 Diablo" plaque installed on the door.
Trump sold it in 2002, and as the story goes, the car popped up on eBay in 2016, with the seller claiming he bought it eleven years prior.
Power comes from a mid-mounted, 5.7-litre V12 that channels 492 horsepower through a 5-speed manual transmission and all-wheel drive system. The Viscous Traction (VT) system redirects torque to the front wheels when needed, enabling the car to rocket to 100 km/h in 4.2 seconds and hit a top speed of more than 320 km/h.
The odometer reads 24,836 km, but there’s no way of knowing how much mileage Trump actually put on it himself. Check out the photo gallery at the top of the page for a closer look.
