Tesla Cybertruck Makes Surprise Appearance at Montreal Auto Show
Tesla’s polarizing electric pickup made its first public appearance in Canada today just a few weeks after the company showed the production model and delivered an initial batch of units.
The Cybertruck is on display at the 2024 Montreal Auto Show thanks to last-minute efforts by the Quebec Tesla Club to bring one here. The Car Guide was on hand during media day and our photographers managed to grab a series of shots which we’ve posted in the gallery above.

The ultra-futuristic stainless steel “exoskeleton” is really something to behold. Tesla claims it has a drag coefficient of just 0.335 and can withstand bullets. Meanwhile, the shatter-proof glass windows are said to resist a baseball thrown at 112 km/h or “class 4 hail.”
The Cybertruck rides on 20-inch wheels and available 35-inch all-terrain tires giving it up to 17 inches of ground clearance. We say “up to” because the four-corner adaptive air suspension can vary ride height depending on the terrain and driving conditions.
As for the cabin featuring a full glass panoramic roof, it was impossible to get a better look at it since the vehicle on display in Montreal can’t be accessed and the doors remain closed. Still, we can tell you that a giant 18.5-inch touchscreen takes centre stage on the extremely clean dashboard. The hex-shaped steering wheel controls the truck through steer-by-wire technology, while the large centre console has a 9.4-inch display on the backside for rear-seat occupants.
When it comes to capability, the Cybertruck can tow up to 11,000 lbs and its 6’x4’ cargo bed has a payload of 2,500 lbs. Up to 1,897 litres of lockable space is available with the cargo cover closed.
The model you see here is a tri-motor variant that sprints from 0-100 km/h in just 2.7 seconds. The dual-motor AWD configuration is slower but still mighty quick with a time of 4.1 seconds. Range is 515 km and 547 km, respectively, but an available range extender (essentially a second battery pack mounted in the bed) makes it possible to drive more than 700 km. A single-motor RWD variant will follow sometime in 2025.
With its 800V architecture, the Cybertruck is able to regain 235 km of range in only 15 minutes when plugged into a Tesla Supercharger.
Canadian prices have not been announced yet. You can pre-order a copy of the Cybertruck by making a $150 deposit on Tesla Canada’s website. South of the border, Tesla is advertising a base MSRP of $60,990 USD and maximum of $99,990 USD.
