Hennessey’s Exorcist Camaro ZL1 Final Edition is a 1,000-hp Sendoff
The sixth-gen Chevrolet Camaro will retire at the end of the 2024 model year and the nameplate’s future beyond that is uncertain. The company has promised it won’t abandon the big coupe and hinted at a next chapter. What shape will it take on and what type of powertrain will it use? That’s still a mystery.
Back in the summer, Chevrolet gifted fans with a Collector’s Edition that pays tribute to Panther, the original codename for the program that became Camaro in the 1960s. Now, famous Texas-based tuner Hennessey is announcing an Exorcist Camaro ZL1 ‘Final Edition’ for hardcore performance enthusiasts and collectors.

The car was created as a direct response to the insane Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170. Thanks to a larger, high-flow supercharger and high-flow air induction system, output is increased to 1,000 horsepower and 966 lb-ft. of torque—a 54 percent increase in power and a 49 percent boost in torque. Hennessey is claiming a 2.1 second 0-60 mph time, 9.57 second quarter-mile and top speed of 217 mph (350 km/h).
None of these numbers match the Demon 170, of course, but since Hennessey’s possessed Camaro is based on the ZL1 model, it proves to be more than a drag racer. This is a track-focused car that excels in corners, too.
Hennessey also upgraded the auxiliary fuel system, fuel injectors, fuel pump, intake valves, exhaust valves, valve springs, retainers, lifters and pushrods. An oversized heat exchanger is fitted for enhanced cooling, while long-tube stainless steel headers and high-flow catalytic converters improve breathing. Pricing is not immediately known, but we can tell you that Hennessey will build only 57 units, commemorating 57 years since the Camaro first entered production. In fact, each engine will feature a unique ‘Final Edition X of 57’ serial-numbered plaque. The engine badging is accompanied by Exorcist ‘Final Edition’ graphics on the exterior.
