Ford F-150 Lightning and Toyota Tundra Go Black for 2024
Turning things black is what pretty much all automakers like to do as many customers look for a darker, less flashy appearance. For 2024, two large pickups are joining the movement, namely the Ford F-150 Lightning and Toyota Tundra.
First, the popular electric workhorse gains a top-of-the-line Platinum Black model that stands out with a matte black exterior—the company's first-ever matte-wrapped production truck.

Other highlights include 22-inch matte black wheels and lug nuts, black Ford Oval badging, a reflective black-on-black Lightning badge and Soft-shell black tonneau cover. The roof and accents on the power running boards are finished in glossy Agate Black, while the signature light bar up front gets a distinctive smoked treatment.
There are "Lightning" graphics on the roof glass above the rear seats, black premium Nirvana leather seating surfaces, as well as an aluminum plate in the driver door jamb (plus the frunk) with limited edition numbering. You see, Ford plans to build only 2,000 units for Canada and the U.S. combined. Deliveries will start early in 2024.
At Toyota, it’s now the next-gen Tundra’s turn to get a Nightshade edition. Based on the Limited model, the truck features a black grille, over-fender and rear bumper, body-coloured grille surround, and gloss black belt moulding, exterior door handles and tailgate handle, plus semi-black 4x4 badge and name badge.
It comes in either Double Cab configuration (regular bed) or CrewMax configuration (regular or long bed). With the latter, customers can opt for the i-Force Max hybrid powertrain (437 hp, 583 lb-ft.) in addition to the twin-turbo V6 (389 hp, 479 lb-ft.).
Pricing for the 2024 Toyota Tundra Limited Nightshade ranges from $71,161-$77,216 including freight and PDI. Other changes for the upcoming model year include an all-new Terra exterior colour in TRD Pro trim and power extendable towing mirrors now available on select grades.
