New Toyota Land Cruiser Teased Again, World Premiere Date Announced
Earlier this month, Toyota announced through a brief statement that the venerable Land Cruiser will return to Canada after leaving in 1996. It also posted a pair of shadowy pictures to tease enthusiasts, one showing the silhouettes of two vehicles—the original FJ Land Cruiser and the next-generation Land Cruiser.
Today, the automaker released a second teaser while confirming that the world premiere will take place on August 1 at 9:20 pm EDT. That’s less than a week away, folks.

The latest shot reveals part of the nose of the new Land Cruiser. In the background, we can see the front end of an FJ62 Land Cruiser, which seemingly served as inspiration for Toyota designers, at least when it comes to the rectangular headlights and egg-crate grille.
The lower bumper is much more massive and blockier than that of the classic Land Cruiser and even the 2024 Lexus GX that was introduced in June. By the way, the new model will be known as Land Cruiser Prado in other parts of the globe.
Similar to the GX, it will ride on Toyota’s TNGA-F body-on-frame architecture (which also underpins the Tundra, Tacoma and Sequoia) and likely house a twin-turbo 3.4-litre V6. The engine is expected to deliver 349 horsepower and 479 lb-ft. of torque via a 10-speed automatic transmission, enabling a max tow rating of 8,000 lbs. The Tundra’s available i-Force Max hybrid powertrain could be offered, as well. If that’s the case, look for 437 horsepower and 583 lb-ft. of torque.
We’ll be able to share with you all the details about the new Toyota Land Cruiser following its debut on August 1, so keep in touch.
