2024 Ford Bronco Sport Brings Back Free Wheeling Spirit and Colours

After introducing Heritage editions for 2023, Ford is once again turning to the past with the 2024 Bronco Sport, adding a special edition aimed at young customers that draws inspiration from the company’s Free Wheeling models of the 1970s.

These colourful F-100, F-150, Bronco and Econoline models featured graphics with red, orange and yellow gradients, painted steel wheels, as well as black finishes on the grilles, mirrors and bumpers.

Bronco customers appreciate its heritage,” says Bronco Sport Marketing Manager Jason Hyde. “After such a great response to the reimagined Bronco Sport Free Wheeling project vehicle in 2021, we decided to bring this special edition that ties Bronco Sport to its fun-loving roots.”

Like the originals, the 2024 Bronco Sport Free Wheeling special edition boasts reflective red, orange, yellow and silver graphics on the body sides, liftgate and hood. It also adds a silver-painted grille with two-tone Bronco badging and a modified lower front end insert. Rounding out the exterior changes are a Shadow Black roof and 17-inch high-gloss black wheels with red accents.

The interior, meanwhile, combines a Black Onyx and Dark Space Grey finish with sunset-coloured seat inserts and stitching. Red accents can be found on the door panels and centre stack.

By the way, the Bronco Sport Free Wheeling is based on the Big Bend model’s content and powertrain, more specifically a 1.5-litre EcoBoost (181 hp) with all-wheel drive and eight-speed automatic transmission. For sure, it would have been more fun if the 2.0-litre EcoBoost were also available.

Black Appearance Package

Prefer a darker look? Ford will happily sell you a Black Appearance Package on the 2024 Bronco Sport Big Bend. It includes a Carbon Black grille and two-tone Bronco lettering, Matte Black 17-inch wheels and a Shadow Black painted roof.

We quite like the Matte Black hood decals, the middle one integrating a bucking Bronco silhouette. Inside, look for Sport Contour seats and a modified airbag cover with a black bucking Bronco badge.

“Bronco Sport customers have been asking for the stylish black finishes available on the F-150, Maverick and Mustang, and we're delivering with the new Black Appearance Package,” Hyde explains. “It also builds on the night sky gauge cluster graphics that Bronco Sport customers see that plays a startup screen featuring the Milky Way.”

The 2024 Ford Bronco Sport Free Wheeling and Black Appearance Package for the Bronco Sport Big Bend can be ordered right now. Incidentally, Bronco Sport customers not opting for the special edition can select one of two new body colours available for 2024 including Azure Grey and Desert Sand.
