Live Pictures of Jeep Recon Concept Give Another Look at Upcoming EV

Stellantis detailed and previewed its future product plans to select Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram dealers at a closed-door event in Las Vegas a week ago.

Five EV concepts were on display including the Dodge Charger Daytona SRT, Ram 1500 REV, Chrysler Airflow Graphite, Jeep Wagoneer S and Jeep Recon. The last one, remember, will become the first-ever all-electric Jeep in North America when it enters production in 2024 as a 2025 model.

In the meantime, we can show you some live pictures of the concept—officially known as Recon Moab 4xe BEV—thanks to the Jeep Recon Forum.

The shot above gives us a great look at the massive front bumper with integrated tow hooks, the illuminated and closed seven-slot grille, as well as the flat, recessed section of the hood (which may or may not hide a trunk since there’s no combustion engine to fit under there).

The Recon’s boxy exterior is all-black from the beltline up and capped by bridge-type roof rails, while the lower body in contrasting paint features plastic cladding around the wheel arches and along the rocker panels.

There seems to be folding running boards on each side, while the BFGoodrich all-terrain tires appear to be in a 285/70R17 size, matching those of the Wrangler Rubicon.

We don’t have pictures showing the vehicle with the roof in the open position or without the doors, unfortunately. As for the “4xe” badges, make no mistake: this is a fully electric model and not a plug-in hybrid like the Wrangler 4xe or Grand Cherokee 4xe.

Incidentally, Jeep has previously said the Recon will use an electronic locking differential and offer multiple drive modes thanks to its Selec-Terrain system.

The production model will debut sometime in 2023, hopefully with all of the important specs such as power, range and charging capability. Our sources tell us it won’t be at the New York Auto Show next week, but rather at a later date.

Keep following The Car Guide for all the latest news on the upcoming Jeep Recon.
