Audi RS 4 Coming to the States, But Not Canada
by Germain Goyer
UPDATE: Audi has confirmed that there are no plans to bring the Audi RS 4 Avant to either Canada or the U.S.
A recent MotorTrend article speculating about the possibility of marketing the Audi RS 4 in North America set the web ablaze yesterday. During a drive event in Europe a few months bacl, an Audi representative let it slip: the RS4 is making its way over to the States. While U.S. public relations representatives denied the claim on the spot at the time, what was heard couln't be unheard.
MotorTrend has since followed up and confirmed with a well-placed source with the automaker's organization the facts about the powerful German wagon's U.S. mission.
U.S. more than often means North America in automotive terms. But when we reached out to the head of public relations for Audi Canada, we were told that the vehicle won't be crossing the border. A similar decision was made for the latest RS 3.
Powered by a 2.9-litre turbocharged V6 engine, the RS 4 outputs a whopping 444 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of torque. In Canada, the RS family is limited to the RS e-tron GT, RS Q8, RS 5, RS 6 and RS 7.
