GMC Hummer EV Has Over 65,000 Reservations Thus Far
Production of the 2022 GMC Hummer EV at GM’s Factory ZERO assembly plant in Detroit kicked off last fall for U.S. customers and demand is still going strong.
Duncan Aldred, global vice president of GMC, said this week that more than 65,000 people have made a reservation so far. This includes both the pickup and the Hummer EV SUV.

The number defies the company’s expectations, but so does the percentage of reservations that have been turned into firm orders. Aldred talked about 95 percent, which is huge.
"Production’s actually slightly ahead of plan and we’re putting things in place now to actually expedite that as well, so we can deliver these reservations quicker than we originally thought," he told CNBC.
Despite that, “a reservation now probably means delivering in 2024,” he warned.
Units being built right now are the sold-out, top-of-the-line Edition 1 models, those with 1,000 horsepower and every available technology such as Super Cruise hands-free driving and 4 Wheel Steer with CrabWalk diagonal-drive functionality. GM will later move to the Hummer EV 3X and other, more affordable models.
For Canadian customers, the pickup is still scheduled to enter production this fall. The Edition 1 is sold out here, as well. As for the Hummer EV SUV, it will start rolling off the line next year. A $500 deposit is required to make a reservation.
In the meantime, the GMC Hummer EV will headline the Montreal Electric Vehicle Show at Olympic Stadium (April 22-24, 2022). Don’t miss our first-drive review, either. We also have another story coming up soon. Stay tuned.
