Ram ProMaster Gets Another Round of Updates for 2023
Hot on the heels of several upgrades and enhancements for the 2022 model year, the Ram ProMaster full-size van keeps the ball rolling with more changes for 2023.
A battery-electric variant developed with input from Amazon, which will be its first customer, will be introduced next year as a direct response to Ford’s E-Transit and GM’s BrightDrop EV600. Alas, the automaker has no details to share about it for now.

Easier Loading and Unloading
Now available in 19 configurations including three roof heights (one of which adds 254 millimetres or 10 inches of headroom), three wheelbases and four vehicle lengths resulting in cargo lengths of 8, 10, 12 and 13.5 feet, the ProMaster boasts a best-in-class 2,123 kilograms (4,680 pounds) of payload and over 14,150 litres of cargo space.
The Crew Van Package is back, capable of carrying up to three passengers in the second row. It’s specifically tailored to meet the needs of customers transporting people and cargo at the same time. Available partitions also offer protection against the possibility of load shift in the cabin.
Meanwhile, the 2023 ProMaster offers a segment-exclusive rear roll-up door to satisfy the cargo loading and unloading required for vocational and delivery customers alike. The roll-up door is constructed with anodized aluminum for weight optimization and durability to meet high-duty cycles. A new Black Appearance Package (wheels, grille, badges) is also available along with two new body colours—Ceramic Grey and Spitfire Orange.
Same Engine, More Safety
The engine powering the 2023 Ram ProMaster is the same 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 that sends 276 horsepower and 250 pound-feet of torque to the front wheels only. A nine-speed automatic transmission replaced the old six-speed unit last year for a smoother drive and fuel savings of nearly 10 percent. This powertrain allows up to 3,134 kilograms (6,910 pounds) of towing capability.
Safety keeps improving yet again with Parallel and Perpendicular Park Assist, which uses ultrasonic sensors to guide the driver into and out of parking spaces. What’s more, the standard halogen and available LED headlights are more powerful now with 15 percent and 50 percent more range, respectively.
Introduced last year, the available digital rear-view mirror displays video in real time in all driving modes from a rear-facing camera, providing an unobstructed rear view that enhances safety and reduces downtime. Let’s not forget the 360-degree Surround View camera enhanced by dynamic gridlines displayed on the standard 7-inch or available 10-inch digital touchscreen.
The 2023 Ram ProMaster will be available on dealer lots in the third quarter of 2022. Pricing will be announced shortly before then.
