Update: 2023 Acura Integra is Not Going to Have AWD
The reveal of the all-new 2023 Acura Integra is coming up real soon. The brand’s U.S. arm recently announced that participating dealers will start accepting pre-orders on March 10.
Of course, a lot of things have been said and written about this car—good and bad—since the introduction of the Integra Prototype last November. We know that the production model will be a close copy, that a turbocharged 1.5-litre engine will reside under the hood, and that a six-speed manual gearbox will be available—like a five-door Civic Si parent company Honda won’t sell you.

There’s no information yet about power, torque or acceleration times, unfortunately. The only known figure is a starting price in the mid-$30,000s in Canada.
The 2023 Integra will become Acura’s new entry-level vehicle as the ILX sedan will not return after the 2022 model year. The ILX is also very similar to the Civic, but those looking for an affordable Acura will likely be glad that it’s gone and replaced with fresh blood.
No AWD
Yesterday, a member of the Integra Talk forum pointed to an Acura dealer in Wisconsin whose website claimed the Integra would be available with the brand’s acclaimed Super-Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) system. It appears that the dealer made a mistake, because the company came out today to say the report is not true.
In a statement sent to a couple of U.S. media outlets, an Acura spokesperson said: “The Integra will continue a tradition of being one of the best driving, front-wheel drive vehicles on the market. We look forward to sharing additional details on the all-new Integra soon.”
The ILX, remember, merely sends power to the front wheels, regardless of the model you select. It would have been awesome to see the Integra offer the SH-AWD option as a way to stand out not only from the outgoing ILX but also from the FWD-only Civic Si, because there likely won’t be a big difference as far as output is concerned. Oh well.
