Bridgewater, N.S. Police Adds Crime-Fighting Tesla Model 3 to Fleet
The usual Ford Taurus and Dodge Chargers that generally populate police force fleets across North America are much different from electric cars. They consume more fuel than the average, are big in size and have an audacious design that screams law enforcement.
Today, a growing number of Canadian police forces are introducing EVs into their fleets. And while EVs might look less angry from a rear-view mirror stand point, they also constitute a statement for fighting climate change.

Repentigny, Quebec Is Also Testing EV Waters
The City of Repentigny has also turned to electrification not too long ago, introducing a brand new Mustang Mach-E to its police force fleet. Although this one looks a little bit more menacing than the Tesla Model 3, it will serve the same purpose.
This specific Ford Mustang Mach-E is also modified to police spec and is part of a study that will be conducted over a period of 6 months. The study aims at evaluating battery performance during various law enforcement interventions.
Police cruisers tend to idle quite a bit during a shift. And they rarely go on road trips far away from their municipality. That arguably makes them good police cars. Oh and there’s also the fact that they can accelerate hella fast in order to catch up to drivers at fault.
