Chevrolet Equinox EV Previewed Ahead of Fall 2023 Launch
General Motors didn’t just reveal the all-new 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV today at CES in Las Vegas. The automaker also previewed the future electric variant of the Equinox compact SUV.
The vehicle will launch in the fall of 2023 with a base MSRP of around $35,000 before incentives. This would make it even more affordable than both the Bolt EV and Bolt EUV, which start at $38,198 and $40,198, respectively.

Unlike these two small EVs, the Chevrolet Equinox EV will ride on GM’s Ultium platform, so it will likely be able to provide longer range. There will be fleet and retail variants, including LT and RS trims.
“Chevrolet is committed to making EVs accessible for everyone and is driving the industry forward with a wide range of EVs to appeal to Canadian customers,” said Michael MacPhee, brand director at Chevrolet Canada. “With the addition of the Equinox EV, Chevrolet now has even more affordable EV options to choose from in Canada’s largest segment.”
No other details were shared. As for styling, the Equinox EV looks nothing like the conventionally powered model. It boasts a lower, sportier stance and much more dynamic lines. Granted, the images show a simulated vehicle and the final result could be somewhat different, but it’s undoubtedly very promising.
Inside, the layout is heavily inspired by the Silverado EV. The highlight, of course, is the combination of the large centre touchscreen and fully digital instrument panel. The LED bar on the steering wheel indicates that Super Cruise hands-free assist will be available. Also, don’t miss the floating centre console with storage underneath.
The Equinox EV will follow the Blazer EV, which is due to hit the market in the spring of 2023. We have no idea yet how much this one will cost, but last fall GM president Mark Reuss promised that both SUVs will be affordable, high-volume products.
GM plans to sell 30 electric models globally by 2025, including 40 percent of its North American lineup. Among them will be the aforementioned Equinox EV and Blazer EV, plus a new entry-level EV that’s still a mystery at this point.
