Mazda CX-30 Gains Standard AWD, More Tech for 2022

The Mazda CX-30 small crossover is a popular choice among Canadian drivers, and the 2022 model arriving in dealerships next month will be even more desirable.

Following the lead of the larger CX-5, not to mention its top competitor, the Subaru Crosstrek, the CX-30 will now come exclusively with i-Activ all-wheel drive technology to further separate itself from the pack.

Mazda’s i-Activ is an on-demand system featuring multiple sensors that check road conditions 200 times every second. It constantly monitors steering angle, throttle position, exterior temperature, wiper operation, the amount of torque required to turn the front wheels and the load on the engine.

During a comparison of small SUVs and crossovers last winter, the performance of the AWD-equipped Mazda CX-30 really impressed our team. Torque distribution is quick and smooth for optimum traction at all times.

In addition, all 2022 CX-30 models will feature G-Vectoring Control Plus (for improved cornering performance) and Off-Road Traction Assist as standard.

Platinum Quartz Metallic has been added to the CX-30 GS and GT paint options. The top-line GT also gets a new Advanced Visibility Package, which includes a 360-degree View Monitor, front parking sensors and Traffic Jam Assist.
