Donating Your Old Car Can Pay Off
Are you getting ready to change your vehicle that's at the end of its life and ready for the scrap yard? Getting rid of that clunker would save on repair and maintenance costs, too. Let us tell you about a gesture that can make a difference for you and for others.
Founded more than 25 years ago and associated with various recycling partners, KidneyCar is an initiative of the Kidney Foundation of Canada to raise money to improve the quality of life for millions of Canadians living with kidney disease. It's a quick, easy and even affordable way to donate a vehicle.
How Does it Work?
Simply complete the online KidneyCar form to indicate your intention to donate. Within 24 business hours, an agent will contact you to arrange a time and date for a no-cost, no-contact towing.
It is important to have the vehicle registration certificate, which you will need to sign it off to the organization.
What Vehicles Are Accepted?
Basically anything with four wheels and tires that can be safely towed will be accepted, even a car that is in bad shape and won't start. It will simply be recycled.
However, vehicles that contain garbage, are not free of debt, or have unpaid parking tickets will be refused. Please note that if your vehicle qualifies for resale, its overall condition will be assessed by a program partner, and you will be informed of the estimated value.
In short, vehicles donated through KidneyCar are 100% recycled or resold. The organization will even hand you a tax receipt for $300 or more, either by email or by mail. Makes more sense than scrapping it? Doesn't it?
