Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Innovates With what3words Navigation
Have you ever heard of what3words? It’s an innovative location technology that enables people to input and get directions to any 3-metre square in the world using just three random words. It never needs updating and works off-line.
For example, ///undermines.honestly.douses will take you to an awe-inspiring remote location in B.C.’s Fraser Valley, as shown in the picture above.

Think it’s weird? Well, what3words is used by individuals and businesses all around the world from ride-hailing apps to delivery companies, hotels, sports stadiums and emergency services. And now, Mitsubishi becomes the first car company to offer what3words offline through its built-in TomTom navigation system in the new 2022 Eclipse Cross.
The automaker says no app, data or cellular connection is required to input or navigate to a what3words address. The system is available in 17 different languages.
Eclipse Cross drivers will be able to easily find and access all sorts of remote locations that don’t have street addresses, such as beaches, parks and rural areas, or pinpoint precise locations, such as parking spots and specific entrances at large malls, stadiums and warehouses.
For the moment, what3words is exclusive to the Eclipse Cross, but we bet other Mitsubishi models will follow suit at a later date.
