2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe Revealed Ahead of Debut
Immediately after Stellantis’ EV Day 2021, a special event outlining its global electrification strategy, the Jeep brand kept the ball rolling by showing the first pictures of the all-new 2022 Grand Cherokee.
What you’re looking at here is actually the plug-in hybrid variant of the fifth-generation midsize SUV.

Besides the “4xe” badges, the main distinctive elements include the charging port on the left front fender, colour-contrasting roof and pillars, unique wheels and front fascia, the last one with a revised lower bumper and openings.
The company made no mention whatsoever about the powertrain or the available EV range.
The Grand Cherokee 4xe is one more step towards electrifying the entire Jeep lineup. In Europe, all Jeep models are available in plug-in hybrid guise. Out here, there’s only the Wrangler 4xe for now, but that will soon change.
Further down the line, Jeep will offer at least one zero-emission vehicle in every SUV segment by 2025, including the first-ever Wrangler EV. Solar-powered charging stations (like the one pictured at the top of the page) will be rolled out near local trails where many Jeep owners spend time. And try to wrap your brain around this: a fully autonomous, off-road-capable Jeep is expected to arrive by 2030!
The 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee will officially make its debut next month at the 2021 New York International Auto Show (August 19-29, 2021). The entire range will be on display including the three-row Grand Cherokee L. Keep following The Car Guide for all the details.
